What is a CSA?
CSA stands for
"Community Supported Agriculture" and is a system through which subscribers
share some of the weather-related risks with the farmer in exchange for the
freshest, highest quality produce available. A purchase of a "share" is made at
the beginning of the season. This upfront payment supplies the farmer with
necessary capital for seeds and other supplies. As soon as the first harvest
arrives, subscribers begin receiving weekly bags of freshly picked seasonal
fruits and vegetables.
Adverse weather can lead to crop failures. This is the risk which is shared by the subscriber with the farmer.
In the event that certain crops becomes unavailable, 13 Moon Harvest may have an abundance of food to make adequate substitutions.
A season
subscription also gives you benefits like free weekly recipes, free herbs, optional pick-your-own crops.
13 Moon Harvest offers CSA shares for weekly pickup at the farm for residents of the Pioneer Valley.
